We have persevered wiith the art of preparing Real Ales on our premises. With a dedicated cellarman you can be sure that every pint will be served in tip top condition. This is reflected in our bitter sales which outstrip standard Keg bitters by 3 to 1. We'll be going for our Cask Marque accreditation in May 2008.

We're really fond of Jenning's from the Lake District but regularly feature ales from as far away as Sussex and Wales.

An extra two pumps will be installed after we reopen.

Caledonian Deuchars IPA – 3.8% by Caledonian Brewery

11 Gallon

Brilliant blend of malt and hop character, sold gold colour. Remarkably aromatic, smooth body, dry palate with hints of f resh citrus. Dry delicate, hop flower finish. A drink that is both distinctive and long on refreshment.

Hopback Spring Zing – 4.2% by Hop Back

9 Gallon

A real hop-feast of a beer! Two English and two Continental hops give a very satisfying bitter yet flowery palate. Maize, wheat and barley malts combine with the hops to yield a very soft flavoursome pale thirst quenching ale of 4.2% ABV.

Jenning's Tom Fool - 4.0% by Jennings

9 Gallon

Brewed to commemorate the ghost of Thomas Skelton, the fool of Muncaster Castle in the Lake District, this golden amber ale has all the characteristics of a light mild.

Marston's Old Umpire 5.7% by Marston's

9 Gallon

A tempting aroma of biscuity malt, floral hops, vanilla and toffee, with hints of citrus fruit. A very refreshing ale.

Moorhouse's Blonde Witch – 4.5% by Moorhouse's

9 Gallon

A true pale-coloured ale with a crisp, delicate fruit flavour, dry and refreshing with a smooth hop finish. A ‘page 3’ of blonde Beers, ideal for those trying cask ale for the first time, as well As the discerning cask ale drinker.
