In the summer of 2021, The Monro launched its first integrated fundraising strategy to raise money for the NHS.
The purpose of this page is to show full transparency of what we hope to achieve, how donations are made, and where the money actually goes. Let's start on this last point.
WHERE DOES THE DONATED MONEY GO TO?
All money raised goes to NHS Charities Together which is a federation of over 250 charitable organisations that supports the NHS, their staff, volunteers and patients. It came to prominence during COVID-19, when 99-year old Captain, Sir Tom Moore raised over £30 million. Later in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge became joint patrons.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
NHS Charities Together acts as collective voice for NHS charities throughout the UK and provides powerful levels of funding to where its needed most across our four nations.
Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of NHS staff
They focus on helping our hospitals do more
Funded pioneering research
Provided vital medical equipment at our hospitals
Help patients access the best possible care when they need it most
Helping the ambulance service treat everyone who needs urgent help
Mobilise volunteers to support NHS staff
Build important links between our hospitals and our communities
These vital funds and services are above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide, touching lives and making a huge difference to millions.
WHEN I DONATE VIA THE APP BY CONVERTING MY POINTS WHAT HAPPENS?
You can tap the Donate to NHS screen card on the homepage of the app. We receive a notification from the app management system and the donation amount via daily reconciliation reports. Donations are made by the 10th of the month for the previous month as a whole, so we can collate all donors and then finalise the donation account.
WHEN I POST A PHOTO AND YOU MAKE A DONATION HOW DOES THIS WORK IN PRACTICE?
We monitor Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on a daily basis and aggregate the number of observable users who have posted a photo or video, and used the tag #monro.
The photo must meet our qualifying guidelines as follows:
Not to be of restricted content
Be positive and supportive of The Monro
Not to be abusive or embarrassing for The Monro, its staff or anybody featured in the photo
Is to be of reasonable quality so it's clear what the subject of the photo is
The total number of relevant users are aggregated for the month and the donation is made by the 10th of the month for the previous month.
